Engineering Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of comprehensive user experiences where customers engage with CircleCI.

• Influence how customers perceive and adopt CircleCI, impacting customer retention and growth.

• Build a cohesive engineering team that is both trustful and highly skilled.

• Attract, onboard, and retain a diverse range of talent.

• Foster the development of engineers through coaching, mentoring, one-on-ones, goal-setting, feedback, and career support.

• Create an environment of psychological safety, trust, inclusion, and belonging.

• Ensure consistent value delivery along with high-quality standards.

• Collaborate with Design, Product, and Data partners on strategic initiatives.

• Monitor performance metrics and pinpoint opportunities for optimization and continuous improvement.

• Engage with stakeholders and customers to collect feedback and align engineering projects with business goals.

• Convert customer insights into team priorities.

• Maintain transparency and efficiency across development, product, and stakeholder teams.

• Participate in organizational development and cross-team initiatives.

• Utilize AI tools to assess technical direction and scrutinize decisions.

• Assist the team in enhancing frontend performance, reliability, and sustainable architecture.

• Advocate for observability tools such as Honeycomb and Datadog.

• Ensure that architectural decisions are well-documented, challenge weak reasoning, and offer technical guidance when the team faces disagreements.

⛳️ Requirements

• Previous experience in a management role overseeing people.

• Proven track record of building cohesive and accountable teams.

• Familiarity with modern software engineering practices.

• Experience in delivering solutions incrementally through experimentation and iteration.

• Background in agile methodologies is a plus.

• An AI-native mindset with experience in effectively utilizing AI tools in engineering tasks.

• Sufficient technical understanding to assess architectural decisions, foresee potential issues, and act as a credible technical mediator.

• Strong open and honest communication skills.

• Product instincts that prioritize developer needs and concerns.

• A proactive orientation and a commitment to continuous improvement.

• Experience in leading and motivating a remote team.

• Experience managing frontend-leaning full-stack teams is a plus.

• Familiarity with modern frontend frameworks like React and TypeScript is advantageous.
