Engineering Manager, App Primitives

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Lead and expand the App Primitives team, taking charge of hiring, team well-being, project delivery, and the development of senior engineers and technical leads.

• Take ownership of the strategy and roadmap for shared product primitives, which include comments infrastructure, notifications platform, event log, feature flag system (Statsig), and task management.

• Define and manage the interface model connecting App Primitives systems and product teams.

• Collaborate with product engineering leaders to identify developer needs, recognize areas of friction, and prioritize investment opportunities.

• Establish the technical direction for a full-stack team, encompassing data models, backend services, and UI primitives.

• Oversee cross-team dependencies and stakeholder expectations across multiple concurrent workstreams with a significant degree of autonomy.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of engineering experience.

• At least 2 years of experience managing engineering teams.

• Proven history of developing senior engineers and technical leads.

• Experience in leading platform, shared services, or product infrastructure teams.

• Technical proficiency across the entire stack.

• Strong knowledge of backend systems, shared data models, and API design.

• Capability to collaborate effectively with product, design, and engineering leaders.

• A successful track record of hiring senior engineers in a competitive job market.

• Experience in managing dependencies across multiple teams and delivering results across concurrent workstreams with minimal oversight.

• Utilizes AI in everyday tasks to enhance skills and improve outcomes.
