Engineering Lead – TypeScript, React, Next.js & AI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Lead the Engineering team both in a technical capacity and as a people manager, which includes conducting 1:1s, fostering professional development, setting clear expectations, and providing feedback.

• Continue to write code while taking responsibility for code reviews and the overall architecture using React, Next.js, TypeScript, Node.js, and PostgreSQL.

• Oversee the technical architecture of the multi-tenant platform and enhance it to accommodate up to 2,000 notary offices.

• Build and expand the Engineering team by defining roles and profiles, conducting technical interviews, and making hiring decisions.

• Integrate AI as a core component of the product and development process, including document generation, document analysis, and agentic workflows.

• Ensure dependable delivery by focusing on planning, maintaining quality standards, managing deployments, and handling incidents.

• Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and notaries to convert notarial practices into effective technical solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Several years of experience as a software engineer, with at least two years in a leadership role where you have guided and developed a team of 3 to 8 engineers.

• Proficient in React, Next.js, TypeScript, Node.js, and PostgreSQL.

• Proven experience in guiding a SaaS product through a significant growth phase, including architecture, data modeling, and operations.

• Familiarity with hiring processes: conducting interviews, making decisions, onboarding new team members, and ensuring their retention.

• Passion for AI tools (e.g., Claude, Codex) and agentic workflows.

• Strong understanding of product dynamics and a willingness to learn the workflows utilized by notaries.

• Native-level proficiency in German (C2).

• Nice to have: Experience in Legal Tech or other regulated sectors; with multi-tenant architectures; transitioning from external service providers; or collaborating with distributed teams.
