Engineer III – Forward Deployed

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Develop internal operational decision-making tools utilizing forecasting, optimization, simulation, and analytical outputs.

• Collaborate with operational stakeholders to grasp decision-making processes and translate their requirements into effective workflows.

• Work alongside data scientists and IT to implement models and analytical solutions in a production environment.

• Integrate applications with operational data, databases, APIs, cloud data platforms, and enterprise systems.

• Create functional solutions rapidly and refine them based on user feedback and usage patterns.

• Design reusable components, patterns, and frameworks for Operations applications.

• Take ownership of application development while partnering with IT on deployment, monitoring, security, and ongoing support.

• Diagnose issues and enhance application performance, reliability, and user experience.

• Document application logic, architecture, workflows, and dependencies comprehensively.

• Convey progress, trade-offs, and technical considerations to data scientists, operational stakeholders, and technology partners.

• Report directly to the Director of Operations Data Science & AI.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Engineering, or a related technical field is mandatory.

• A minimum of 4 years of software development experience, including the creation of data-intensive applications, internal tools, or analytical applications.

• Proficient hands-on experience with Python and SQL.

• Experience in developing applications that engage with databases, APIs, and analytical models.

• Proven track record in rapidly constructing and deploying data-intensive applications or decision-support tools.

• Familiarity with Git, testing, CI/CD processes, and containerization.

• Strong proficiency in Python software development.

• Ability to leverage lightweight frameworks, reusable components, modern development tools, and AI-assisted development tools when applicable.

• Experience in testing, deploying, monitoring, and supporting production applications.

• Capability to create clear and intuitive interfaces and visual representations.

• Experience collaborating directly with operational stakeholders.

• Ability to clearly articulate technical concepts and document work thoroughly.

• Capacity to independently progress from loosely defined problems to implementation.

• Ability to sit at a desk and utilize a computer for up to 8 hours a day.

• Ability to stand and walk for up to 8 hours a day; must be able to stoop, bend, and lift boxes weighing up to 50 lbs.

• Ability to hear and communicate verbally using a telephone handset and/or connected headset device.

• Regular attendance and punctuality are essential.
