Engineer III – Forward Deployed

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Develop internal operational decision-making tools utilizing forecasting, optimization, simulation, and analytical outputs.

• Collaborate with operational stakeholders to gain insights into decision-making processes and design efficient workflows.

• Partner with data scientists and IT to operationalize models and analytical solutions.

• Integrate applications with operational data, databases, APIs, cloud data platforms, and enterprise systems.

• Quickly construct, deploy, test, and refine solutions based on user feedback and observed usage patterns.

• Create reusable components, patterns, and frameworks for operational applications.

• Take ownership of application development and collaborate with IT on deployment, monitoring, security, and ongoing support.

• Diagnose issues and enhance application performance, reliability, and usability.

• Document application logic, architecture, workflows, and dependencies comprehensively.

• Convey progress, trade-offs, and technical considerations to data scientists, operational stakeholders, and technology partners.

• Report directly to the Director of Operations Data Science & AI.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline is required.

• More than 4 years of software development experience, including the creation of data-intensive applications, internal tools, or analytical applications.

• Strong practical experience with Python and SQL.

• Experience in developing applications that interact with databases, APIs, and analytical models.

• Proven track record in rapidly building and deploying data-intensive applications or decision-support tools.

• Familiarity with contemporary software development practices including Git, testing, CI/CD, and containerization.

• Strong software development skills in Python.

• Ability to utilize lightweight frameworks, reusable components, modern development tools, and AI-assisted development tools where applicable.

• Experience in testing, deploying, monitoring, and supporting production applications.

• Capability to create clear and intuitive interfaces and visualizations.

• Aptitude for directly engaging with operational stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

• Ability to articulate technical concepts clearly and document work effectively.

• Competence in independently navigating loosely defined problems through to implementation.

• Ability to sit at a desk and use a computer for up to 8 hours a day.

• Capability to stand and walk for up to 8 hours a day; able to stoop, bend, and lift boxes weighing up to 50 lbs.

• Proficiency in hearing and verbally communicating using a telephone handset and/or connected headset device.

• Regular attendance and punctuality are essential.
