This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North America.
• Develop and manage components of Ent’s lightweight endpoint agent for Windows, macOS, or Linux platforms.
• Deliver features comprehensively, covering design, implementation, testing, telemetry, staged rollout, and post-release monitoring.
• Oversee agent lifecycle engineering aspects: packaging, installers, enrollment, configuration delivery, self-updating, rollback, and uninstallation.
• Enforce constraints on CPU, memory, disk, and network usage while identifying performance regressions in Continuous Integration.
• Implement functionality for offline and degraded modes, including local queueing, backpressure, policy caching, retry logic, and handling clock/connectivity edge cases.
• Apply secure engineering principles within a privileged process environment.
• Develop diagnostics, log collection, health reporting, and support tools.
• Manage the agent's test infrastructure, cross-platform CI, OS-version compatibility, upgrade/downgrade pathways, and soak/performance testing.
• Integrate agent signals with backend services and the corresponding browser extension.
• Collaborate with platform teams to evolve APIs and schemas without disrupting existing agent versions.
• Address escalations related to failed installations, conflicts with security agents, OS/kernel upgrades, crashes, and performance issues.
• Participate in code reviews, design discussions, documentation efforts, and the on-call rotation for agent health.
• 5+ years of experience in producing software using C/C++ or Swift, particularly in native desktop or endpoint applications.
• Proficient understanding of operating system internals and system APIs on at least one platform: Windows, macOS, or Linux.
• Experience working with unattended software on non-controlled machines, covering aspects like versioning, upgrades, backward compatibility, and recovery from failures.
• Strong knowledge of concurrency, memory management, and empirical performance evaluation.
• Debugging expertise that includes reproduction of issues, instrumentation, and root-cause analysis.
• Familiarity with build systems, cross-platform CI/CD, and automated testing (CMake or Bazel, GitHub Actions or similar).
• Proficient in scripting with Python.
• Security-minded coding practices, including input validation, privilege boundaries, and awareness of endpoint attack surfaces.
• Excellent communication skills and effective collaboration within a fast-paced, distributed team.
• All team members receive significant equity in addition to their salary.
• Ent covers 90% of medical, dental, and vision insurance costs.
• 75% coverage for dependent family members.
• Flexible Paid Time Off (PTO) policy.
• 12 weeks of fully paid maternity leave (for birth, adoption, or fostering).
• 8 weeks of fully paid paternity leave.
• Monthly lifestyle account of $100 for fitness, wellness, education, and other personal development.
• $500 stipend for home office equipment for remote employees.
