📋 Description

• Develop and enhance microcontroller firmware for status indication, physical audio bypass relays, and vehicle detection signal routing.

• Construct and fortify the edge compute host application along with a full-duplex, multi-process audio pipeline that connects drive-thru hardware to the cloud backend.

• Take ownership of the serial protocol and health-monitoring system between the microcontroller and the host.

• Implement failure detection, exponential backoff recovery, and state persistence during restarts.

• Troubleshoot issues related to audio drivers, USB serial, relays, and third-party POS integrations utilizing logs and telemetry.

• Enhance deployment, monitoring, remote management, telemetry, remote access, and secure over-the-air updates for production device fleets.

• Collaborate with product and operations teams to convert drive-thru and legacy hardware constraints into effective technical solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional software engineering experience, with significant exposure to embedded systems, firmware, or hardware-adjacent software.

• Proficiency in C++ for resource-constrained microcontrollers.

• Strong backend development skills in Python or other contemporary programming languages.

• Experience in designing for reliability in real-time or latency-sensitive systems, particularly unattended field systems.

• Practical knowledge of serial/USB protocols, audio I/O, or similar low-level hardware interfaces.

• Capability to navigate loosely defined hardware/software challenges and create well-architected solutions.

• Strong judgment regarding the balance between scaling and rapid development.

• Excellent communication skills for articulating technical reasoning.

• Bonus: Experience in audio processing/DSP, echo cancellation, remote fleet management, or integrations with point-of-sale/legacy hardware.
