Embedded Linux, High-Compute Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Maintain software for production automotive Electronic Control Units (ECUs)

• Manage component alterations such as obsolete parts, memory swaps, and alternate sources impacting ECU software or manufacturing tests

• Assist production at the contract manufacturer

• Implement test updates, troubleshoot production-line issues, and analyze yield data

• Take responsibility for existing codebases and execute software modifications

• Verify software changes related to components

• Create documentation for processes to ensure they can be executed independently

• Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and runbooks

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in automotive embedded software

• Experience in supporting production at a contract manufacturer, which includes deploying test updates, resolving line failures, and interpreting yield data

• Capability to evaluate whether component modifications necessitate software changes and to carry these changes through the validation process

• Experience with automotive change control, including PPAP, DV/PV, and deviations

• Proficient in hands-on bench debugging with standard laboratory tools

• Ability to work autonomously and produce SOPs/runbooks

• Familiarity with embedded Linux on automotive System on Chips (SoCs); knowledge of QNX or Android is advantageous

• Experience with storage bring-up, including partitioning, device tree, and boot flow for eMMC/UFS/SSD/DRAM modifications

• Knowledge of Yocto or similar build systems, Continuous Integration (CI) pipelines, and multi-repo workflows

• Understanding of secure boot and signed-image processes

• Experience with Qualcomm, NXP i.MX, or NVIDIA platforms is a plus

• Familiarity with taking over a legacy codebase with limited documentation is a plus

• Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening is required
