This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oregon.
• Instruct and assist Grade 5 students within a K12-powered virtual classroom environment.
• Develop engaging and supportive online educational experiences.
• Oversee daily teaching, student interactions, and classroom duties.
• Provide enriching synchronous and asynchronous learning opportunities.
• Tailor education and differentiate instruction based on individual student mastery.
• Enhance course materials using suitable asynchronous and synchronous tools under the guidance of the principal and coach.
• Track student progress via Stride K12’s learning management system.
• Maintain the grade book and uphold academic integrity.
• Make decisions regarding student placement and promotion.
• Notify administrators of any concerns regarding student performance and progress.
• Prepare students for high-stakes standardized assessments.
• Build and sustain positive relationships with families.
• Communicate promptly with students and learning coaches/parents.
• Assist learning coaches/parents with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual-classroom troubleshooting issues.
• Travel for in-person professional development, student testing, and other school obligations.
• Collaborate with teachers and administrators to leverage student data for instructional planning.
• Bachelor's degree required.
• Must possess an active state teaching license.
• Certification/license for Elementary (Grades K-6) is necessary.
• Must be a resident of Oregon.
• Ability to pass required background checks.
• Capacity to work independently, typically exceeding 40 hours per week.
• Capability to maintain a distraction-free professional home office during work hours.
• Willingness to adhere to the school’s defined schedule, usually 9-5 or 8-4.
• Experience working with the targeted age group is preferred.
• Experience assisting adults and children in utilizing technology is desired.
• Background in teaching within an online/virtual or brick-and-mortar setting is preferred.
• Familiarity with online learning platforms is desirable.
• Ability to analyze and create numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data to inform instructional decisions is preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint is preferred.
• Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and educational platforms.
• Commitment to maintaining teacher certification/professional development hours and proficiency in K12 systems, programs, and curriculum.
• Willingness to travel as necessary, averaging once per month and/or approximately 20% of the time.
