This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Louisiana, +3 more states.
• Foster student achievement through a comprehensive school counseling initiative.
• Assist students in their academic, social, emotional, and career planning and readiness.
• Strategize for students' postsecondary pathways.
• Support students in applying effective academic strategies and managing their emotions and interpersonal relationships.
• Conduct quarterly meetings with assigned students to discuss graduation plans and postsecondary options.
• Provide classroom instruction that aligns with student success benchmarks.
• Evaluate transcripts and academic records.
• Collaborate with educators to create four-year graduation plans and monitor student schedules.
• Aid in course placement, including recommendations for Advanced Placement and enhanced learning pathways.
• Examine student data to formulate data-driven intervention strategies.
• Offer short-term counseling and make referrals for long-term assistance.
• Support teachers, staff, and parents in their roles.
• Facilitate standardized testing, parent education, and professional development for staff.
• Advocate for students during individualized education plan meetings and other student-focused discussions.
• Guide students and families in setting goals and academic planning.
• Enhance equity, access, achievement, and opportunities for every student.
• Valid School Counselor certificate.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum of three (3) years of counseling and/or advisement experience.
• School Counselor License required.
• Must be able to pass a mandatory background check.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, online search engines, and database management systems.
• Flexible working hours.
• Willingness to travel as necessary, up to 20% of the time.
• Master's degree in school counseling preferred.
• Experience with online learning platforms.
• Advanced coursework in counseling and administration is a plus.
• Background as a teacher is advantageous.
• Experience in a customer service setting is desirable.
• Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and mandated reporting is essential.
• Prior experience in a charter school is preferred.
• Familiarity with state career planning systems, Pathfinder, or other career planning tools is beneficial.
• Ability to work independently, typically exceeding 40 hours per week.
• Availability to work during the school's standard hours, either 9-5 or 8-4.
