Electrical Safety Auditor – Freelance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in China.

📋 Description

• Perform on-site electrical safety audits at manufacturing and industrial facilities throughout China, which include initial meetings, document assessments, facility inspections, equipment evaluations, and concluding meetings.

• Evaluate and examine electrical installations such as distribution panels, transformers, switchgear, generators, and emergency power systems.

• Conduct diagnostic assessments, including thermographic scanning, earth resistance testing, and insulation resistance testing.

• Assess and confirm Single Line Diagrams, load calculations, and capacity analysis against actual installations.

• Review lightning protection systems to ensure compliance with relevant standards.

• Identify non-conformities, evaluate risk levels, and communicate corrective actions to factory management.

• Create evidence-based audit reports that include photographs and references to standard clauses within specified timelines.

• Carry out follow-up verification visits to ensure closure of critical or high-risk findings.

• Review evidence of corrective actions and provide technical clarification to factories.

• Stay updated on international and national electrical safety standards and regulations.

• Revise audit processes in alignment with regulatory standards and industry best practices.

• Offer technical support to fellow auditors during multi-disciplinary audits.

• Engage in internal calibration sessions and activities aimed at quality improvement.

• Assist with projects in Southeast Asia as business needs arise.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.

• At least 5 years of relevant experience in electrical installation, inspection, maintenance, or safety auditing in industrial, manufacturing, or factory settings; 7+ years of experience is highly preferred.

• Proven hands-on experience in electrical safety inspections, including visual evaluations of electrical panels, distribution systems, grounding systems, emergency power, and lightning protection.

• Expertise in diagnostic testing techniques, including thermographic (infrared) scanning, earth/grounding resistance testing, and cable insulation resistance testing.

• Knowledge of international electrical codes and standards (NFPA, IEC) as well as Chinese national electrical standards (GB series).

• Strong proficiency in written and spoken English for report writing and client interactions.

• Willingness and ability to travel extensively to factory locations across China and Southeast Asia, including overnight stays and multi-day field assignments.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

• Chinese electrical certifications (e.g., Electrician Special Operation License, Registered Electrical Engineer) are preferred; international electrical safety certifications (e.g., NFPA Certified Electrical Safety Worker, IECEx, or equivalent) are a significant advantage.

• Familiarity with digital reporting tools and AI-assisted productivity tools is a plus.

• Ability to work independently in the field while ensuring effective team communication and adherence to reporting standards.

• Capability to manage multiple audit projects and meet tight reporting deadlines under pressure.

• Flexibility and adaptability to shifting schedules, client needs, and project scope changes.
