EHS Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama.

📋 Description

• Ensure that sites adhere to EHS policies, programs, and procedures.

• Engage in and aid the development of EHS programs, policies, and procedures.

• Conduct annual EHS audits and inspections, offering recommendations for continuous improvement.

• Guarantee that site management implements safe working procedures and practices for personnel.

• Oversee required compliance activities and enforce Invenergy EHS standards.

• Evaluate risks and identify hazards in the workplace and job sites.

• Support the implementation of Invenergy standards and procedures at various sites.

• Initiate investigations for incidents or near misses and complete EHS management-system documentation.

• Perform inspections and audits; track and document corrective measures.

• Compile, document, and submit necessary EHS reports and recordkeeping information.

• Provide training on EHS policies and programs.

• Ensure the proper utilization of the 3E SDS management system.

• Communicate updates on injury and illness awareness, along with mitigation strategies; follow up with Site Managers.

• Foster relationships through regular site visits and ongoing regional conference calls.

• Manage documentation related to EHS initiatives, safety stand downs, Safety Alerts, and Bulletins.

• Carry out other EHS-related responsibilities as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Willingness and ability to travel regionally, potentially up to 50%, often with minimal notice.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.

• At least 2 years of experience in Environmental Health & Safety (EHS).

• A minimum of 2 years of work experience and training that equip you with the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the role.

• Capability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions and possibly at night.

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

• Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.

• Eligible to work in the United States without requiring employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.

• Familiarity with OSHA workplace standards, industry best practices, and guidelines applicable to PV/BESS operations, including ANSI and NFPA 70e.

• Understanding of federal, state, and local environmental regulations, standards, and best practices.

• Practical EHS knowledge, including hoisting and rigging, fall protection, excavation and trenching, electrical safety, confined spaces, incident investigation, PPE, and EPPE.

• Acquainted with PV/BESS systems, including DC systems and AC medium voltage systems.

• Proficient with testing tools and equipment such as Thermographic Electrical Inspection, I-V Curve Tracing, Meggers, and Ground Fault Detection.

• Knowledgeable about TMEIC, SMA, GE, and Power Electronics inverters; single axis/PVH/NEXTracker trackers; Longi, Risen, and Talesun modules.

• Understanding of utility-scale PV/BESS substation operations.

• Strong written, verbal, and computer communication skills to convey EHS-related information to employees and contractors.

• Ability to generate accurate reports with findings and recommendations.

• Capacity to perform time-sensitive tasks and manage multiple programs when necessary.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and other web-based reporting tools.

• Experience and understanding of the risks associated with maintaining equipment in the renewable energy generation sector.

• Associate degree is preferred.

• Conditional offers are subject to drug testing with a negative result required prior to commencement of work.
