EHS Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.

📋 Description

• Assist industrial and manufacturing clients in identifying and mitigating risks that impact safety, productivity, reliability, quality, workforce efficiency, and regulatory adherence.

• Conduct Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) assessments, audits, field observations, and compliance evaluations at industrial and manufacturing sites.

• Execute industrial hygiene evaluations and risk assessments to pinpoint workplace hazards and areas for improvement.

• Assess plant operations, management systems, work processes, and field execution practices.

• Carry out incident investigations and create recommendations aimed at preventing future occurrences.

• Develop and implement effective solutions that enhance safety, productivity, reliability, quality, compliance, and workforce efficiency.

• Collaborate with plant leadership, operations, maintenance, engineering, and frontline staff on sustainable performance enhancements.

• Create and deliver tailored EHS and workforce training programs based on client requirements.

• Prepare technical documentation, assessments, recommendations, presentations, and other client deliverables.

• Identify client requirements and suggest solutions that align with operational and business goals.

• Manage project deliverables, timelines, priorities, and client expectations.

• Provide professional, responsive, and high-quality consulting services.

• Support initiatives to expand services and deliver added value to existing clients.

• Collaborate with Tormod technical teams to create integrated EHS and consulting solutions.

• Contribute to the growth and advancement of Tormod's EHS consulting practice.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Engineering, Occupational Health, or a related discipline.

• Professional certification such as CSP, CIH, ASP, CHST, or equivalent is preferred.

• A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), industrial hygiene, environmental compliance, operational excellence, or related consulting roles within industrial or manufacturing settings.

• Proven experience in developing, recommending, implementing, and optimizing operational, EHS, and workforce performance enhancements.

• Experience in evaluating plant operations, management systems, work processes, organizational effectiveness, and field execution methods.

• Experience in conducting EHS assessments, audits, industrial hygiene evaluations, risk assessments, and incident investigations.

• Skilled in developing and delivering workforce and EHS training in industrial contexts.

• Direct experience working with plant leadership, operations, maintenance, engineering, and frontline staff.

• Experience in delivering client-facing consulting services and managing project deliverables.

• Comprehensive knowledge of EHS principles, industrial safety practices, risk management, and regulatory compliance.

• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking abilities.

• Capability to identify client needs and formulate practical, value-driven solutions.

• Excellent relationship-building, communication, and presentation skills.

• Proficient in effectively conveying technical information to both leadership and frontline personnel.

• Strong organizational and project management skills with the capacity to manage multiple projects, priorities, and client engagements.

• Ability to work independently while successfully collaborating with clients and internal technical teams.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and technical report writing.

• Capable of working effectively in industrial and manufacturing environments.

• Strong commitment to providing high-quality consulting services and delivering measurable value to clients.

• Ability to lift and carry over 25 lbs.

• Willingness to travel to client facilities and project sites as necessary.

• Capability to participate in site visits, assessments, audits, and field observations.

• Ability to wear necessary personal protective equipment (PPE).

• Selected candidate must have authorization to work in the United States.
