This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as the primary leader for weekly editorial meetings, which includes agenda setup, Zoom facilitation, processing editorial decisions, assigning reviewers, and collaborating with over 15 editors.
• Manage the submission of revised manuscripts by coordinating with authors, editors, and reviewers, while also tracking progress towards content pipeline objectives.
• Oversee the pipeline for Accompanying Editorials, which involves forecasting requirements, inviting and following up with authors, and addressing formatting and policy inquiries.
• Compose comprehensive decision letters for invitations to revise manuscripts and for accepted submissions in collaboration with the Associate Managing Editor.
• Supervise the AJKD Blog, focusing on monitoring usage statistics and developing promotion strategies.
• Direct the annual NephMadness educational initiative by coordinating content, resources, social media, podcasts, TourneyTopia, and the related CME program.
• Administer the Editorial Internship Program, encompassing recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, mentoring, and program content development.
• Organize and schedule biannual Core Curriculum planning calls, including updates on metrics, tracking invitations, and facilitating topic voting.
• Collaborate with the NKF’s Marketing and Communications team to enhance the promotion of journal content through weekly newsletters.
• Procure promotional items, service subscriptions, and reproduction permissions.
• Assist with special projects such as supplements, visual abstract edits, and coverage during vacations.
• Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.
• Bachelor’s degree along with 3–5 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Previous experience in STM publishing is preferred.
• Familiarity with peer-review systems, particularly Editorial Manager, is advantageous.
• Knowledge of AMA style and scholarly publishing ethics is essential.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong capabilities in project management and problem-solving.
• High proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, Box Drive, and Google Drive.
• Ability to work autonomously and manage intricate workflows with precision and confidentiality.
