This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Lead a team of writers and editors
• Delegate tasks and uphold the publication timetable
• Oversee the publication calendar and story pipeline for all written formats
• Establish deadlines and monitor progress when interns fall behind
• Manage and update “How-To” documents related to publishing procedures
• Facilitate weekly editorial meetings
• Participate in Leadership and All-Staff meetings, providing updates as needed
• Assist HR in recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding contributors
• Train writers and editors, setting standards for sourcing, processes, and formats
• Ensure ONC’s nonpartisan positioning and branding are maintained
• Collaborate on joint initiatives with teams such as Media & Marketing
• Focus on developing others rather than primarily producing content
• Experience in writing or editing across various environments: professional, academic, student publications, or news organizations
• Ability to edit for argumentative clarity and structure, alongside grammar and style
• Proven experience in coordinating a team to meet deadlines
• Comfort with providing direction and ensuring accountability
• Strong judgment regarding sourcing, attribution, and factual integrity
• Demonstrated commitment to sustained follow-through
• A resume and a cover letter of no more than 500 words are required for application
