This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Collaborate with fellow engineers to develop computer-based models.
• Conduct power system analyses on utility distribution networks and electrical power systems for industrial and commercial sectors.
• Execute both long-term and short-term planning studies, including short circuit analysis, load flow analysis, motor starting evaluations, power factor correction, DER impact assessments, load impact assessments, and related analyses.
• Engage in meetings with both internal teams and external clients.
• Utilize steady-state load flow tools such as CYME, Synergi, Windmil, ETAP, and SKM for system modeling.
• Carry out studies focused on system reliability and resiliency planning.
• Analyze distribution circuits concerning loading, voltage, reactive power, contingencies, coordination, and reliability.
• Perform studies for new load and generation interconnections.
• Propose solutions and best practices for both standard and non-standard scenarios.
• Conduct thorough engineering analyses in accordance with defined methodologies, criteria, and principles.
• Identify and promote innovative technologies and practices aimed at minimizing operational costs and enhancing safety.
• Articulate complex technical concepts to decision-makers and project teams.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
• Over 8 years of experience in electrical engineering system studies.
• More than 8 years of proficiency with power flow analysis software such as CYME, Synergi, Windmil, ETAP, or equivalent tools.
• At least 8 years of experience in planning, studies, and operations, including hosting capacity analysis, contingency analysis, long-term capital investment studies, and model validation.
• Previous experience working in or with electric utilities.
• Proven ability to thrive in a customer-focused, project-driven environment.
• Experience in forecasting load and generation growth.
• Familiarity with short circuit analysis software such as ASPEN, CAPE, or ETAP.
• Knowledge of distribution operation software like ADMS and DERMS.
• Experience with distribution design and/or drafting using AutoCAD.
• Proficient in using Python to automate functionalities in power system modeling software.
• Understanding of utility protection philosophy and short circuit studies.
• Experience in designing renewable energy generation facilities, including solar, wind, or battery storage systems.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English, including technical report writing.
• Familiarity with Independent System Operators such as PJM, MISO, CAISO, ERCOT, WECC, SERC, NYISO, NEISO, and SPP.
