Disability Reviewer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Wisconsin.

📋 Description

• Review and assess intricate medical, psychological, developmental, and functional data for children who are applying for or engaged in Wisconsin’s Katie Beckett Medicaid program.

• Formulate disability determination recommendations based on medical evidence, functional limitations, Social Security Act criteria, as well as policies, regulations, procedures, and quality standards.

• Analyze medical terminology, disease processes, diagnostic tests, treatment methods, physical and mental impairments, and other pertinent information.

• Determine when further medical information is required to finalize a review.

• Create electronic case documentation, written review requests, case summaries, determination records, and necessary notifications.

• Ensure confidentiality and adhere to relevant regulations and program requirements.

• Independently oversee a designated disability caseload.

• Collaborate with reviewers, clinical consultants, supervisors, and operational partners to investigate discrepancies, address complex cases, and arrive at logical and objective conclusions.

• Travel to Madison, Wisconsin quarterly for meetings or other business-related purposes.

⛳️ Requirements

• Professional experience with children who have disabilities and/or complex medical needs.

• Experience in evaluating medical, emotional, psychological, developmental, and functional conditions.

• Experience in reviewing and interpreting medical, psychological, developmental, clinical, or other evidentiary documents.

• Capability to produce logical, objective, and well-supported recommendations.

• Excellent analytical, critical-thinking, written communication, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.

• Ability to manage priorities, deadlines, and a disability-related caseload independently and efficiently.

• Bachelor’s degree in a human services-related discipline with relevant clinical experience, or an associate degree in a human services-related field with equivalent relevant experience.

• Preferred backgrounds include nursing, psychology, social work, human services, or related therapies.

• Strong computer proficiency.

• Ability to effectively work with electronic medical and evidentiary records.

• Experience with CARES Worker Web (CWW) is preferred.

• Must reside in Wisconsin.

• Ability to work 40 hours per week.

• Availability Monday through Friday during Wisconsin Department of Health Services core hours of 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. Central Time.

• Maintain a private, distraction-free workspace.

• Reliable hard-wired high-speed internet with a minimum of 25 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload; Wi-Fi is not acceptable as the primary connection.
