Director – Wastewater Process Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead the development and execution of company-wide initiatives for the management and treatment of landfill liquids.

• Create, refine, and supervise policies, procedures, systems, and best practices related to the management, treatment, and disposal of liquids derived from landfills.

• Keep abreast of new regulatory requirements and industry trends, translating findings into strategic and operational plans.

• Provide technical direction for intricate projects and devise innovative treatment solutions.

• Collaborate with both internal and external experts on technology research and development.

• Plan, manage, and coordinate staff, both internal and external, involved in environmental solutions.

• Develop policies, procedures, training, and guidance for engineering and environmental compliance.

• Treat waste that contains contaminants, including semi-liquid, liquid, and gaseous forms, using biological, chemical, and separation technologies.

• Offer leadership and technical assistance in the permitting, design, construction, and due diligence for leachate treatment facilities.

• Utilize flow and mass balances to troubleshoot and enhance the performance and compliance of leachate treatment facilities.

• Oversee development initiatives for technology related to leachate and groundwater treatment.

• Act as a technical resource in Engineering Science, Wastewater Treatment Technology, Bioremediation, and Environmental Compliance.

• Balance organizational financial objectives with regulatory requirements and environmental solutions.

• Formulate internal environmental management policies, procedures, and practices.

• Conduct independent research on environmental issues to enhance liquids management and treatment.

• Monitor federal and state regulatory developments, focusing on state-level agendas.

• Engage with local and state regulatory agencies regarding environmental standards and advancements in wastewater treatment.

• Manage external consultants and research scientists addressing new technologies and environmental challenges.

• Travel 25–30% as necessary based on project requirements.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must reside and work in the United States.

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Environmental Management, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field.

• Minimum of 10 years of overall experience.

• 7+ years of experience in industrial wastewater treatment design and operations.

• Specific expertise in environmental engineering and solutions with a focus on the handling, treatment, and disposal of landfill liquids.

• Experience in wastewater treatment process modeling of biological and physical/chemical unit operations and/or systems utilizing flow and mass balance calculations.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word), Power BI, and advanced statistical/data analysis software.

• Strong ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, in a professional manner to employees and multidisciplinary internal and external technical experts.

• Certifications and/or PE license are preferred but not mandatory.

• A Master’s Degree in Science along with 10+ years of experience in industrial wastewater treatment design and operations is preferred.

• 3+ years of management experience preferred.
