Director, Strategic Finance

📋 Description

• Take ownership of 1Password's unified financial strategy, forecasting, and reporting schedule.

• Act as the main finance liaison for the Engineering, Product & Design, G&A, CTO, and CISO departments.

• Define the company's expenditure strategy for cloud hosting and artificial intelligence.

• Provide leadership for Strategic Finance, manage operations, ensure delivery, and cultivate a high-performing team.

• Create and execute the annual objectives and roadmap for Corporate Finance.

• Examine market and industry trends, new technologies, customer feedback, and stakeholder insights.

• Spearhead efforts to enhance forecast accuracy and uphold reporting standards consistent with public companies.

• Establish visibility into gross margin and unit economics related to cloud and AI expenditures.

• Boost returns on research and development investments.

• Build reliable cross-functional relationships and align goals.

• Assess and refine the organizational structure, processes, practices, and systems.

• Set and manage key performance indicators; supervise performance monitoring and accountability.

• Drive change management initiatives.

• Provide coaching and mentorship to direct reports; recruit, develop, and maximize talent.

• Promote a culture of high performance and enhance organizational well-being.

• Manage the consolidated profit and loss statement, balance sheet, cash flow forecast, and long-term planning.

• Conduct monthly forecasts, quarterly reforecasts, and annual budget cycles with detailed variance analysis.

• Oversee the R&D planning process entirely, including headcount, while supporting the product roadmap's pace.

• Manage the planning stack and associated processes, including Anaplan integrations with NetSuite, Salesforce, and BI layers, as well as defining forecast data.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years of finance experience.

• At least 3 years in a leadership position.

• Preferably experienced in the SaaS or cybersecurity sector.

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline or equivalent practical experience.

• MBA, CPA, or CFA is preferred but not mandatory.

• Demonstrated history of enhancing forecast accuracy and expediting planning cycles at scale.

• Experience managing a consolidated three-statement forecast in a rapidly growing environment.

• Tangible cost or gross margin achievements realized in collaboration with a technical organization.

• Proficient in corporate FP&A for high-growth SaaS, including three-statement forecasting, unit economics, gross margin analysis, R&D investment planning, and cloud cost structures.

• Experience with the IPO process or working within a recently public organization, including S-1 support, guidance setting, or quarterly external reporting.

• Strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities.

• Experience in operational excellence, process enhancements, system optimization, and performance metric management.

• Proven ability to collaborate across various functions with peer leaders and teams.

• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence peers and senior leaders using expertise and data insights.

• Experience leading strategic initiatives in fast-paced, complex, and dynamic settings.

• Proven track record of building and nurturing high-performing teams.
