Director, Software Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee the GTM Store and ZoomInfo Data Platform teams within Platform Engineering.

• Take ownership of the strategy, architecture, and roadmaps for the BigTable operational data store and the BigQuery analytical data platform.

• Lead and mentor senior engineers and technical leads.

• Establish priorities related to scaling, data onboarding, compliance, security, and reliability.

• Enhance scaling, performance, latency, cost-effectiveness, availability, monitoring, alerting, capacity planning, and incident response.

• Manage the change data capture strategy, tools, data consistency, ordering guarantees, and fault tolerance.

• Oversee data ingestion pipelines and expedite the onboarding of new data sources.

• Administer customer data deletion systems and processes to comply with GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant regulations.

• Integrate observability and auditability into data deletion workflows.

• Collaborate with Product, Legal/Compliance, downstream engineering, and various cross-functional stakeholders.

• Act as a trusted advisor to the VP of Software Engineering.

• Drive documentation and tooling enablement initiatives for internal teams.

• Represent the platforms during strategic planning and company-wide technology decisions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of progressive experience in software/platform engineering or data engineering, with a history of operating at a senior leadership level.

• Proven experience in directly managing senior technical talent, including staff engineers, tech leads, or senior individual contributors.

• Strong expertise in large-scale operational and analytical data stores and distributed systems.

• Experience in scaling data infrastructure to accommodate high volume and throughput.

• Familiarity with data ingestion pipeline architecture and change data capture (CDC) technologies such as Debezium, Kafka Connect, Kafka, or equivalent tools.

• Knowledge of data privacy and compliance practices, including GDPR/CCPA data deletion and right-to-be-forgotten requests.

• Ability to balance platform reliability and performance tasks against feature and onboarding speed.

• Proven skills in cross-functional partnership with product and business stakeholders.

• Excellent communication abilities, capable of presenting strategy, trade-offs, and progress to executive leadership.

• Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform data infrastructure, including BigTable and BigQuery.

• Knowledge of Kafka and workflow/pipeline orchestration tools such as Airflow or similar.

• Experience in developing self-service tools for data onboarding.
