Director, Software Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Report directly to the Chief Operating Officer.

• Supervise individual contributors and other managerial staff.

• Act as a practitioner on client assignments, with fractional billing on one or multiple projects.

• Lead and promote innovation, collaboration, and ongoing improvement within the Software Engineering division.

• Set and monitor OKRs and KPIs for company-wide Software Engineering initiatives.

• Ensure technical quality and the application of best practices throughout programs.

• Assist in technical solutions, proposal creation, and market research efforts.

• Manage hiring, succession planning, and staffing strategies in conjunction with the COO and Talent team.

• Foster talent development through practice community meetings, training sessions, and mentorship opportunities.

• Oversee bench time utilization and career advancement prospects.

• Collaborate with other directors to engage across different capabilities.

• Align business, team, project, and technology needs; identify risks and propose solutions.


⛳️ Requirements

• Must be eligible to obtain and retain a Public Trust Clearance.

• Must possess experience managing managers within a consulting organization, overseeing a group of 40 or more.

• Bachelor’s degree in any field or equivalent demonstrated experience.

• At least 10 years of leadership experience in software development teams and people management, demonstrating a trajectory of increasing responsibilities.

• Proven experience in developing success metrics and objectives for software engineering teams.

• Background in collaborating with product, UX, and cloud engineering partners across teams and programs.

• Experience in nurturing talent through recruitment, mentoring, and proactive career development aligned with a career framework.

• Proficiency in legacy software modernization and designing applications for cloud environments.

• Strong knowledge of Agile and DevSecOps delivery methodologies.

• Skilled in technical writing, proposal writing, and presentation creation.

• Bonus: Experience in delivering projects for the public sector.
