This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Report directly to the Vice President of Regulatory and Policy.

• Monitor current and prospective energy market regulations and developments in the PJM and southeastern regions.

• Develop and manage strategies aimed at influencing preferred energy regulations.

• Clarify existing PJM market regulations and create and implement market strategies, policy initiatives, and advocacy efforts.

• Actively engage in PJM stakeholder processes and assess proposed market regulations.

• Create company-specific proposals and forge strategic partnerships with stakeholders.

• Present proposed and contemplated energy market regulations to internal teams.

• Collaborate with departments including Regulatory, Trading, Operations, Origination, Legal, Compliance, Development, and others.

• Participate in trade associations and stakeholder coalitions to shape market outcomes.

• Cultivate relationships with PJM staff, stakeholders, state regulators, state agencies, NGOs, and colleagues.

• Influence energy policy and regulation through networking and industry organizations.

• Support due diligence for M&A activities and commercial transactions.

• Oversee external consultants and lobbyists.


⛳️ Requirements

• Proven strategic thinking, analytical skills, and strong negotiation abilities.

• High political awareness and understanding of power and environmental markets, particularly in PJM.

• Capability to collaborate with trade associations, coalitions, external consultants, and internal professionals.

• Experience interacting with regulators, stakeholders, and industry advocacy groups.

• Proficient in resolving conflicts and building strong relationships and alliances.

• Background in project or case management and participation in project teams.

• Skill in identifying and evaluating business risks and opportunities.

• Ability to articulate complex PJM regulatory and market rules to external audiences at both detailed and high levels.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

• Competence in managing external consultants and lobbyists.

• Ability to work independently.

• 10 years of experience in wholesale markets regulation, including a minimum of 5 years in PJM market and regulatory affairs.

• Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Engineering, Business Administration, Political Science, or a related field.

• Knowledge and experience in advocacy and western regional governance.

• Extensive network within energy regulatory, policy, and environmental stakeholders in PJM regions.

• Willingness to travel 30%–50% based on location.
