Director, Product Design

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of product design across the entire portfolio and establish high standards for this function.

• Remain actively involved in the most critical product surfaces.

• Uphold standards for clarity, accessibility, workflow integration, and consistent product quality.

• Lead user discovery initiatives with healthcare professionals, patients, and internal users.

• Convert research findings and feedback into practical design guidance.

• Develop an understanding of physician and operator workflows to inform roadmap discussions.

• Collaborate with Product on measuring post-launch experiences.

• Oversee and manage the product design system, encompassing components, patterns, and tokens.

• Expand the design framework for product user interfaces and AI-assisted build processes.

• Create AI-driven experiences, conversational flows, agent interactions, and UX guidelines for regulated environments.

• Work alongside AI and engineering leadership on platform and builder user interface.

• Set up critique, review, and quality benchmarks for the design team.

• Collaborate with product and engineering leaders from the discovery phase through to delivery.

• Represent design in product planning sessions.

• Partner with Engineering to ensure feasibility, implementation accuracy, and front-end delivery.

• Collaborate with Compliance and MLR regarding regulatory product UI requirements, fair balance, and necessary disclosures.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 7 years in product design with a portfolio showcasing complex, workflow-intensive shipped products.

• Experience in both mobile and web environments, including platform or multi-surface products.

• Prior experience in health tech, life sciences, or other regulated product design is highly preferred.

• Proven track record of owning a design system or framework in a production setting.

• Experience in designing AI-assisted, conversational, or agentic product interfaces, or similar platform/builder UIs.

• Demonstrated success in conducting user discovery.

• Experience in managing designers or establishing a small design team.

• Strong hands-on skills in interaction design, visual design, and prototyping.

• Comfortable in a player-coach role.

• Established credibility in partnerships with product and engineering leadership.

• Product management experience is advantageous but not mandatory.
