This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Identify, assess, and analyze potential sites for Redwood Energy's solar and storage projects in targeted markets, focusing on land use, zoning, and site-specific fatal-flaw assessments.
• Drive the entitlement and permitting strategy by collaborating with local, county, and state officials, community stakeholders, and land agents to enhance project viability.
• Assist with government affairs and community relations initiatives related to potential sites.
• Negotiate and obtain site control, including leases, easements, options, and associated agreements with landowners and land agents.
• Act as the representative for Redwood in dealings with landowners, brokers, customers, and state and local officials throughout the site selection process.
• Lead negotiations for local economic development, tax, and community agreements.
• Create and manage financial and valuation models to assess site economics, development costs, and project returns.
• Develop and sustain tracking tools for land inventory, pipeline status, budgets, and schedules across active development projects.
• Oversee site-identification tasks in alignment with budgets and timelines, coordinating both internal and external technical support, including environmental consultants, engineers, and external legal counsel.
• Maintain structured pipeline tracking and reporting to keep leadership updated on site status, risks, and timelines.
• Establish and lead Redwood Materials' land development function in collaboration with Engineering, Finance, and Legal teams.
• A bachelor's degree in real estate development, engineering, business, planning, or a related discipline.
• Over 10 years of experience in energy project development, real estate development, or land acquisition, preferably including utility-scale solar, storage, or data center site development.
• Proven experience navigating local and county-level permitting, zoning, and entitlement procedures.
• Successful track record of independently sourcing and negotiating site control agreements with landowners and land agents.
• Proficient in financial and valuation modeling to assess project economics.
• Experience in engaging with and developing relationships with local government officials and community stakeholders.
• Capability to independently establish processes and tools for a function with minimal existing infrastructure.
• Willingness to travel extensively for site visits, due diligence, and stakeholder engagement across target markets.
• Compensation will be aligned with experience.
