This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Oversee the creation and implementation of state and grassroots patient engagement strategies for designated Endocrinology therapeutic programs and brands.

• Convert the national patient engagement strategy into organized state, regional, and local engagement initiatives.

• Recognize emerging community needs, trends, and opportunities, translating local insights into actionable strategies.

• Establish and maintain strategic relationships with state, regional, and grassroots patient advocacy groups and community stakeholders.

• Enhance and safeguard Neurocrine’s reputation and credibility within local patient communities.

• Identify, cultivate, and spearhead strategic partnerships with community organizations.

• Act as the main Patient Engagement & Advocacy liaison for field-based teams, including Sales, Field Medical, Field Medical Marketing, Regional Patient Access Managers, State Government Affairs, and Market Access.

• Organize patient engagement activities and support patient access and policy initiatives in local markets.

• Provide strategic direction to field-based colleagues regarding engagement with patient advocacy organizations.

• Generate insights from the community, patients, and caregivers through local engagement activities, advisory boards, conferences, and ongoing relationships.

• Deliver community intelligence, emerging issues, and local patient viewpoints to headquarters.

• Collaborate with the PEA Operations Manager to plan and implement field-based patient engagement activities.

• Create annual engagement strategies, plans, and proposed budgets.

• Oversee approved budgets and resources, ensuring compliance with company policies, laws, regulations, and industry standards.

• Work with the Director, National PEA to translate enterprise strategies into cohesive field engagement activities.

• Mentor colleagues, share best practices, and contribute to the enhancement of Patient Engagement & Advocacy capabilities.

• Perform additional tasks as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• High school diploma with 16+ years of relevant education and experience; OR a BS/BA degree in Business, Economics, Communications, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, or a related field with 12+ years of relevant experience; OR a Master’s degree with 10+ years of relevant experience.

• Experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, a patient advocacy organization, or a healthcare consulting, communications, or patient engagement agency is strongly preferred.

• Proven experience in developing partnerships with state, regional, or grassroots patient advocacy organizations and community stakeholders.

• Experience collaborating closely with field-based commercial, medical, market access, or government affairs teams.

• Familiarity with supporting patient access, state policy, or community engagement initiatives is preferred.

• Experience in rare disease or specialty pharmaceutical environments is preferred.

• Ability to devise and implement strategic patient engagement initiatives across various state, regional, and local settings.

• Outstanding relationship-building, influencing, stakeholder management, and diplomacy skills.

• Strong knowledge of field-based commercial, medical, market access, and government affairs organizations and their interactions with patient communities.

• Capability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence without formal authority.

• Exceptional communication, presentation, facilitation, negotiation, and executive presence.

• Strong judgment and the ability to balance competing stakeholder priorities while maintaining trusted external relationships.

• Comprehensive understanding of the U.S. healthcare, biopharmaceutical, patient advocacy, and state policy landscapes.

• Dedication to compliant, ethical, and patient-centered engagement.
