This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take ownership of Chainguard's comprehensive rewards strategy encompassing compensation and benefits.
• Lead and nurture the Total Rewards team.
• Direct the global compensation and benefits strategy as Chainguard ventures into international markets, including the UK, Canada, and Germany.
• Collaborate with the business to strike a balance between employee experience and cost-effectiveness.
• Identify outdated programs or underused benefits that could be restructured or phased out.
• Stay informed about trends in the compensation and benefits landscape.
• Supervise banding, market pricing, and merit cycles alongside the Compensation Manager.
• Provide strategic advice to leadership on compensation and benefits in relation to headcount growth and cost management.
• Develop scalable total rewards processes as both the team and the company expand.
• 8-10 years of progressive experience in compensation and benefits, including at least 3 years in a management role.
• Demonstrated experience in establishing total rewards strategy, with a solid foundation in either compensation or benefits, and familiarity with the other area.
• Experience in scaling total rewards programs within a high-growth SaaS or startup environment, ideally transitioning from approximately 1,000 to over 3,000 employees.
• Comprehensive experience managing compensation cycles, which includes job architecture, market pricing, merit/promotion planning, and bonus design.
• Proficiency in equity program design and administration, including familiarity with cap tables using tools like Carta, Shareworks, or similar platforms.
• Strong expertise in market pricing and benchmarking tools such as Radford, Pave, Mercer, or equivalent.
• International experience is essential, particularly within EMEA; experience in Japan, Singapore, or South America is considered a significant advantage.
• Experience collaborating with or overseeing an Employer of Record (EOR) for international employees.
• Working knowledge of pay equity and compliance regulations across multiple states and international jurisdictions.
• Proven success in managing and developing a team.
• Ability to operate comfortably in ambiguous situations and create processes where none currently exist.
• Relevant experience is prioritized over certifications.
• This is a people-manager role reporting to the VP overseeing People.
