Director of Telco Operations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ireland.

📋 Description

• Enhance network performance by leading incident response processes, conducting root-cause analyses, and optimizing latency, throughput, and connection success rates.

• Design platform advancements in collaboration with Product teams, managing SM-DP+ operations, device carrier bundles, and eSIM orchestration.

• Oversee technical integrations for new suppliers, including DRAs and sponsored IMSIs, while managing comprehensive testing for new destinations.

• Direct the Operations PMO for infrastructure initiatives, vendor upgrades, and capacity expansion.

• Align capacity with growth strategies by converting commercial forecasts into robust network infrastructure.

• Empower a global team across various time zones.

• Act as the operational liaison to Product, Tech, and CX teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 15 years of experience in mobile telecommunications, specifically in Network Operations (NOC/SOC), Core Network engineering, or leadership in Platform Operations.

• Extensive technical knowledge of 4G/5G core networks, roaming signaling (Diameter, GTP, SS7), IPX/GRX, and GSMA eSIM standards.

• Proven experience in managing critical incident lifecycles, global PMO activities, and significant platform integrations.

• Demonstrated ability to scale and mentor distributed, multicultural engineering and operations teams.

• Excellent communication skills in English for influencing cross-functional executives and global carrier partners.

• Preferred: Practical experience with SGP.32, eSIM IoT, or SM-DP+ vendor migrations.

• Preferred: Expertise in 5G SA roaming (SEPP/N32), IMS/VoLTE architecture, or permanent roaming regulatory frameworks.

• Preferred: Knowledge of TAP/RAP settlement, roaming fraud controls, or direct carrier negotiations.
