Director of Special Projects – Finance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Oversee significant cross-functional projects from inception to completion, encompassing problem identification, analysis, decision-making, and implementation.

• Provide guidance on additional cross-functional initiatives.

• Analyze business processes through interviews, workshops, and data examination.

• Develop future-state processes, structures, roles, governance, and transition strategies.

• Integrate financial principles, business data, and operational realities.

• Collaborate with Data and Technology teams to verify business data accuracy.

• Establish metrics, models, and reporting frameworks to aid leadership in decision-making.

• Define the scope and manage external consulting partners, handling proposals, delivery, expenditures, and knowledge transfer.

• Direct internal, cross-functional, and third-party teams without formal authority.

• Influence AI use cases in planning, forecasting, closing, procurement, and workforce processes.

• Within the initial six months, navigate a significant cross-functional challenge to executive decision-making and deliver an evaluation of a core planning or allocation process.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of six years in management consulting, corporate strategy, finance transformation, or business operations, with extensive cross-functional experience.

• Proven ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder projects from diagnosis to implementation.

• Strong quantitative abilities and financial acumen.

• Skill in constructing or deconstructing models, handling complex enterprise data, linking operational drivers to financial outcomes, and evaluating supportive metrics.

• Experience in designing and implementing operating models, processes, or organizational structures.

• Background in professional services or similar environments.

• Exceptional executive communication skills.

• Preferred: An MBA or another advanced degree, or a comparable record of advancement.

• Preferred: Experience with planning, forecasting, or resource allocation processes.

• Preferred: Practical experience in AI strategy or execution.

• Preferred: Familiarity with SQL, Python, or R, along with modern business intelligence and planning tools.

• Preferred: Experience in enterprise software or recurring-revenue businesses with a significant services component.

• Preferred: Background in post-acquisition integration or carve-out processes.

• Preferred: Experience in shared services or center of excellence design, or work in regulated and high-impact environments.
