Director of Software Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead the Platform & Architecture division for the Equity Management team.

• Take ownership of delivery accountability for a platform modernization initiative from inception to general availability.

• Convert Solution Architect technical directives into a resource-managed, sequenced, and accountable delivery roadmap.

• Promote Spec-Driven Development, Lean experimentation, and the integration of AI development methodologies.

• Oversee Engineering and QA/Automation for the modernization project while collaborating with Product and UI/UX as matrixed partners.

• Set delivery standards and define a discipline of completion across Engineering, Product, and UX/Design.

• Identify misalignments, obstacles, and unresolved cross-functional issues.

• Ensure Engineering, Product, and UX/Design are held accountable for their delivery commitments.

• Transparently communicate program status and risks to the Senior Director, VP, and executive stakeholders.

• Manage the delivery of broker integration initiatives.

• Supervise the delivery of the Certent Equity Management platform, which serves over 1,200 customers.

• Balance resource capacity and prioritization among modernization efforts, broker programs, and core CEM delivery.

• Act as the single point of accountability for delivery across the entire portfolio.

• Lead 4–6 teams focused on platform modernization, Broker Applications and Integrations, Core CEM Application, and Platform Services.

• Mentor and develop Managers and Senior Managers.

• Handle hiring, onboarding, performance management, retention, headcount, and organizational structure.

• Safeguard team capacity and foster a culture of high trust and accountability.

⛳️ Requirements

• 12+ years of software engineering experience within enterprise SaaS environments.

• 5+ years of experience leading multiple managers or senior managers at the Director level or equivalent scope.

• Proven history of driving large, ambiguous, cross-functional programs to successful completion.

• Ability to proactively identify organizational risks or misalignments.

• Preference for the smallest end-to-end slices that validate concepts.

• Continuously measure progress and realign teams and plans as priorities evolve.

• Proactively mitigate blockers and dependency conflicts.

• Technical proficiency in modern software architecture and Azure cloud-native platforms.

• Familiarity with Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, Data Lake, medallion architecture, and temporal tables.

• Experience managing portfolios with external/customer interests, client-facing programs, SLAs, or regulated delivery obligations.

• Excellent executive communication skills.

• Comfort in navigating ambiguous situations.

• Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, code review standards, and definition-of-done discipline.

• Experience managing distributed, global teams across various time zones.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or equivalent professional experience.

• Demonstrated success in spec-driven or AI-assisted development methodologies.

• Preferred: experience in financial services, equity compensation, banking/brokerage integrations, or related regulated fields.

• Preferred: direct experience delivering enterprise SaaS programs catering to 1,000+ clients.
