Director of Software Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead high-performing engineering teams that create secure, scalable, cloud-native solutions.

• Collaborate with Product Management, Architecture, and Executive Leadership to define and implement the product and technology roadmap.

• Upgrade legacy applications and platforms by migrating to cloud-native architectures and modern development frameworks.

• Spearhead the development of a contemporary cloud-native product and address complex engineering challenges at scale.

• Take ownership of the technical roadmap, encompassing architecture, security, reliability, scalability, performance, and technical debt mitigation.

• Provide hands-on technical guidance through architecture reviews, design discussions, technical decision-making, and engineering mentorship.

• Utilize AI-driven development and testing tools to enhance productivity, software quality, and delivery speed.

• Establish and evaluate engineering productivity metrics and engineering KPIs.

• Ensure reliable, high-quality delivery of customer commitments and product releases.

• Promote operational excellence via incident management, root cause analysis, observability, and continuous improvement.

• Advocate for DevOps practices, including CI/CD, automated testing, infrastructure as code, and cloud automation.

• Recruit, lead, mentor, and develop engineering managers and engineers.

• Encourage accountability, innovation, and ongoing learning.

• Manage internal teams, contractors, and strategic technology partners.

• Ensure adherence to corporate policies, industry regulations, and security standards.

• Support FinThrive's compliance initiatives and relevant healthcare, privacy, and financial regulations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

• 12+ years of software engineering experience, including over 5 years in leadership roles managing engineering managers and software development teams.

• Demonstrated experience delivering and maintaining enterprise-scale software products in cloud environments.

• Extensive experience in modernizing legacy applications, monolithic systems, and on-premise platforms into cloud-native architectures.

• Strong proficiency in Azure, .NET, C#, Angular, APIs, distributed systems, and contemporary software architecture patterns.

• Experience in building and managing CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and implementing DevOps practices.

• Proven success in leading Agile software development organizations utilizing Scrum or similar methodologies.

• Robust understanding of reliability engineering, application security, scalability, and performance optimization.

• Experience in implementing and assessing engineering effectiveness through DORA metrics, productivity KPIs, and operational metrics.

• In-depth knowledge of AI-assisted software development and quality engineering tools.

• Familiarity with Agentic AI platforms and practical applications of AI in enterprise software products.

• Outstanding leadership, communication, organizational, and stakeholder management abilities.

• Preferred: Experience in Healthcare Revenue Cycle Management (RCM), Payment Integrity, Payer, Claims, or Healthcare Financial Technology.

• Preferred: Experience leading globally distributed engineering teams.

• Preferred: Experience delivering SaaS and multi-tenant cloud platforms.

• Preferred: Experience managing products in highly regulated industries.

• Preferred: Familiarity with Databricks, Power BI, and modern data platforms.

• Preferred: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
