This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as the deputy to the CISO and assume full authority during the CISO's absence.
• Represent the security organization to executives, clients, and regulatory bodies.
• Lead, mentor, and develop managers and senior engineers within Security Engineering and Security Operations.
• Own the security engineering roadmap that includes AWS-first cloud security architecture, detection and response, identity, vulnerability management, and secure-by-default platform investments.
• Drive cross-functional initiatives with Engineering, IT, and Product, covering AI security governance, data perimeter controls, and federal compliance efforts.
• Establish and uphold engineering standards for the security organization, focusing on everything as code, automation, and outcome assessment.
• Develop hiring pipelines and enhance hiring standards.
• Manage performance assessments, promotion cases, and succession planning.
• Convert technical risks into business language for executives and the board.
• Transform business priorities into a clear and coherent security strategy.
• Over 10 years of experience in security or software engineering.
• At least 4 years in a managerial role overseeing security teams.
• Experience in managing managers of managers or similar scope is preferred.
• A solid background in software engineering with experience in delivering production software.
• Demonstrated success in building and scaling high-performing security teams.
• Extensive technical knowledge in AWS organizations and multi-account governance, Kubernetes, identity and access, detection engineering, and contemporary SDLC security.
• Proven cross-functional leadership with engineering leaders.
• Excellent written communication skills and the capability to drive alignment asynchronously.
• Executive presence with the ability to present to C-level executives, clients, and auditors.
• Experience with paved-path or secure-by-default platforms is preferred.
• Familiarity with compliance-driven environments such as FedRAMP, SOC 2, or ISO 27001 is advantageous.
• Experience in securing AI/ML systems or managing AI adoption at scale is preferred.
• Worked in environments where security resources were limited and automation was essential for scaling is advantageous.
