This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead and mentor the product design team.
• Manage and nurture skilled product designers.
• Engage in critiques, design reviews, and occasional design initiatives.
• Establish standards for craftsmanship and ownership while fostering a robust feedback culture.
• Take ownership of design principles, standards, guidelines, and decision records.
• Enhance design judgment across designers, engineers, and AI systems.
• Prioritize and allocate resources for the Help Scout Design System, promoting its adoption across Product and Engineering.
• Supervise trustworthy AI experience principles, including communication, user control, error management, and autonomous actions.
• Advance design workflows, tool standards, design debt management, and collaboration with Product and Engineering.
• Initiate and standardize code prototyping and AI-assisted workflows.
• Influence product direction as a member of the Experience Leadership Team.
• Assign designers to workstreams based on business priorities.
• Collaborate with Brand Design to ensure alignment between marketing and in-app product experiences.
• Report to the Chief Product Officer and collaborate with the Chief Revenue Officer and VP of Engineering.
• Over 10 years of experience in product design.
• More than 3 years of experience managing designers.
• Proven accountability for a product's user experience and its creators.
• Outstanding product and design judgment.
• Ability to make complex B2B software feel straightforward and user-friendly.
• Experience in building or significantly enhancing a well-adopted design system.
• Strong perspective on AI and the future landscape of product design.
• Practical experience with AI in your design practice.
• Experience managing principal- or staff-level designers.
• Technical proficiency sufficient to gain engineers' trust.
• Ability to utilize data and customer research to guide decision-making.
• Strong collaborative partnership with Product and Engineering teams.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
• Experience leading remote teams and fostering trust in a distributed environment.
