This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Utah.
• Oversee and resolve daily legal issues autonomously within assigned authority.
• Offer practical advice and recommendations to leadership, escalating issues based on importance, risk, or institutional consequences.
• Provide attorney-client privileged counsel in accordance with ethical obligations and relevant laws.
• Manage the Legal department’s portfolio of ongoing matters, including delegating tasks, establishing deadlines, tracking progress, and ensuring completion.
• Formulate suggested actions for legal challenges.
• Drive the development and ongoing enhancement of legal workflows, templates, governance practices, and knowledge management systems.
• Assess institutional communications, policies, and initiatives through a legal risk perspective.
• Compose legal correspondence, demand letters, and other legal communications.
• Coordinate with external counsel regarding deliverables, timelines, and strategic direction.
• Provide legal advice on contract strategies and risks in collaboration with Procurement and other departments.
• Oversee the legal intake and response procedures for subpoenas, record requests, and legal holds.
• Assist with legislative and regulatory initiatives through legal analysis and cross-functional collaboration.
• Collaborate with Compliance, Title IV, and Legislative and Regulatory Affairs.
• Mentor and supervise assigned personnel, including the Contract Specialist and legal operations support staff.
• Contribute to Nightingale Education Group’s mission in higher education and healthcare professions.
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from a recognized law school.
• Active license to practice law, in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.
• At least 7 years of legal experience.
• Preferably experienced in higher education, healthcare, employment law, regulatory law, legislative affairs, or complex organizational advisory roles.
• Proven experience with contract law, legal risk assessment, and collaboration with external counsel.
• Strong professional judgment and discretion.
• Ability to uphold attorney-client privilege.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
• Capable of translating complex legal concepts into practical operational guidance.
• Ability to work collaboratively across institutional functions and assist leadership in managing legal risks.
