Director of IT Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead and expand the IT Engineering team while actively participating as a player-coach.

• Collaborate with team members, evaluate their work, and eliminate obstacles.

• Guide and nurture the team towards an engineering-first operational framework.

• Provide coaching on infrastructure-as-code, automation, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) methodologies.

• Take ownership of the strategic direction and roadmap for corporate technology, including identity and access management, productivity tools, endpoint management, SaaS/vendor management, IT procurement, and budgeting.

• Advocate for AI and agentic tools to minimize manual tasks and reduce ticket volume.

• Collaborate with InfoSec leadership on matters related to identity, access, and compliance.

• Monitor ticket trends and metrics to focus on high-impact root-cause resolutions.

• Establish strategy, mentor the team, represent IT throughout the organization, and stay engaged in hands-on activities.

⛳️ Requirements

• 10–15 years of experience in IT, systems administration, DevOps, or corporate/business technology engineering.

• Extensive hands-on experience with Okta is essential, covering all aspects of its configuration.

• Prior experience with Google Workspace is strongly preferred.

• Proven expertise in building “IT as code” practices utilizing Terraform or similar infrastructure-as-code (IaC), CI/CD, and GitOps workflows for corporate SaaS systems.

• Demonstrated success in reducing ticket volume and manual tasks through automation and root-cause analysis.

• Experience in mentoring or providing technical guidance to mid-level IT analysts.

• Ability to function as a hands-on individual contributor within a small team while formulating strategy.

• Knowledge of security and compliance principles.

• Passion for collaborating closely with InfoSec.

• Interest in and early adoption of AI/agentic tools for enhancing operational efficiency.

• Excellent communication skills for bridging the gap between technical implementation and stakeholder requirements.
