Director of Human Resources

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop, lead, and continuously enhance the firm's human resources function.

• Act as a strategic partner to the firm's leadership and management teams.

• Manage the entire employee lifecycle, which includes onboarding, performance management, employee relations, compensation support, benefits, leave administration, compliance, professional development, and employee engagement.

• Evaluate current HR practices and infrastructure to implement scalable HR processes and programs.

• Collaborate with the COO, Managing Partners, Firm Administrator, Director of Finance, and other leaders within the firm.

• Oversee HR compliance, policy management, risk management, employment notices, documentation, training, and compliance tracking.

• Manage onboarding, new-hire integration, offboarding, employee transitions, and exit interviews.

• Direct performance management and performance review processes; provide coaching to managers and support performance improvement plans.

• Supervise the HRIS, PEO relationship, semi-monthly payroll administration, benefits administration, open enrollment, HR reporting, and workforce data management.

• Counsel employees, managers, and leadership on employee relations, investigations, disciplinary actions, and sensitive personnel issues.

• Create initiatives for learning, development, engagement, retention, mentoring, manager training, culture, and recognition.

• Enhance HR efficiency, consistency, compliance, employee experience, automation, metrics, reporting, and internal controls.

• Recruit, develop, and oversee future HR support staff.

• Conduct compensation benchmarking and assist with establishing salary ranges, career paths, bonus evaluations, headcount planning, and workforce planning.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be accepted.

• Approximately 8–10+ years of progressive HR or People Operations experience, including at least 2 years in a law firm setting.

• Proven experience in building, enhancing, or scaling HR programs and processes.

• In-depth knowledge of employment law, employee relations, performance management, compensation, benefits, leave administration, and HR compliance.

• Experience supporting a multi-state or geographically distributed workforce is highly preferred.

• Familiarity with working alongside a PEO and/or HRIS platform is preferred.

• Capability to advise senior executives and managers on complex and sensitive personnel issues.

• Experience in managing organizational change and supporting a growing organization.

• SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or a comparable professional certification is preferred.

• Strong judgment, discretion, confidentiality, executive presence, interpersonal and communication skills, relationship-building, HR best practices, employment compliance, coaching, conflict resolution, project and change management, analytical decision-making, organization, and prioritization abilities.
