This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +3 more states.
• Take charge of finance and accounting processes as Efficient Computer's inaugural dedicated finance professional.
• Collaborate with the VP of Operations, CEO, department leaders, external accountants, auditors, and legal counsel.
• Create a consistent month-end closing schedule.
• Enhance visibility into cash flow and planned expenditures.
• Analyze departmental expenses and budgets.
• Manage the operating model, annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, departmental budgets, and variance assessments.
• Oversee accounting, tax, and compliance functions, which include the general ledger, revenue recognition, inventory and cost accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, collections, R&D tax credits, Section 174 treatment, sales tax, and multi-state obligations.
• Project cash flow and handle treasury management, banking, insurance, capital commitments, debt facilities, and financing due diligence.
• Direct the finance systems strategy, controls, approval processes, documentation, and readiness for audits.
• Generate reports for the board and investors.
• Assist with equity administration, 409A updates, and cap table management.
• Develop a scalable finance function and prepare for future growth.
• Over 10 years of experience in finance and accounting, including responsibility for both closing processes and forecasting.
• Background in a capital-intensive industry, such as semiconductors or other sectors with significant long-term commitments prior to revenue generation.
• Experience in a fast-paced startup environment, ideally as an early or first finance hire.
• Ability to operate independently without a supporting finance team.
• Proven history of advancing a finance function without hindering the company's progress.
• Effective communication skills with engineers, executives, and board members.
• Willingness to be hands-on and perform tasks directly.
• Semiconductor or hardware industry experience is advantageous but not mandatory.
• CPA certification is a plus.
• Experience in conducting a company's initial audit is a bonus.
• Familiarity with implementing finance systems is a bonus.
• Experience preparing a company for IPO readiness or acquisition reporting standards is a bonus.
