This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Lead and expand a vibrant Major Gifts program throughout Southern California.
• Cultivate relationships with donors, prospects, community leaders, and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with organizational leadership, board members, and program teams to uncover philanthropic opportunities.
• Create compelling cases for support that inspire transformative giving.
• Utilize data, donor insights, and strategic planning to further fundraising objectives.
• Implement a strategic, donor-focused major gifts program in Los Angeles, San Diego, and the broader Southern California area.
• Secure leadership gifts of $10,000 or more annually from high-profile prospects and donors.
• Comprehend programs, priority initiatives, goals, and financial needs to craft cases for support.
• Assist the CEO, Executive Director, Vice President of Development, leadership personnel, and board members with prospect research and donor meeting briefing materials.
• Apply Moves Management from prospect identification through solicitation and stewardship.
• Organize and execute donor cultivation and stewardship events, house gatherings, and program briefings.
• Collaborate with program staff, board members, and organizational leaders.
• Produce regular fundraising and regional activity reports for senior leadership and the board.
• Manage a portfolio of around 100 existing donors and prospects capable of contributing $10,000 or more annually.
• Engage assigned donors through tailored outreach, site visits, donor meetings, proposals, and events.
• Investigate current donors and new prospects based on their capacity and inclination to give.
• Coordinate donor outreach, stewardship reports, and impact communications with cross-functional colleagues.
• Document donor interactions, planned engagement, and gift opportunities in Raisers Edge.
• Evaluate portfolio performance and track progress towards established goals.
• Prepare regular reports for senior management.
• Support campaign planning and execution, including establishing and monitoring goals.
• Identify and nurture planned giving prospects.
• Master's degree OR Bachelor's degree.
• At least 4 years of progressive fundraising experience.
• Proven success in independently and collaboratively prospecting, cultivating, soliciting, and securing donor gifts.
• In-depth knowledge of fundraising best practices, trends, and donor engagement strategies.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
• Maintain strict confidentiality regarding donor information.
• Adhere to the AFP Donor Bill of Rights and ethical fundraising standards.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and insurability through Seneca Family of Agencies' insurance policy.
• Clearance from a TB test.
• Fingerprint clearance.
• Compliance with any other state or federal licensing or certification requirements.
• Proficient in Raisers Edge and Microsoft Office suite.
• Preferred CFRE credential.
• Experience in fundraising for health and human services is preferred.
• Experience in building and managing high-performing teams, including hiring, supervising, and developing staff, is preferred.
• Possess a problem-solving mindset and strong diplomatic communication skills.
• Ability to engage credibly and sophisticatedly with high-level partners across the progressive philanthropic landscape.
• Strategic thinker with the capacity to align philanthropic goals with mission and outcomes to design programmatic and campaign strategies.
• Capability to pass a bilingual language proficiency exam for additional compensation.
• $2,000 sign-on bonus for new employees at Seneca.
• Additional compensation upon successful completion of the bilingual language proficiency exam.
