This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design and execute statewide political, organizational, governance, and co-governance strategies for the California Working Families Party.
• Act as the primary staff lead for the California State Steering Committee, which includes agenda creation, facilitation of meetings, follow-up actions, implementation tracking, and leadership development.
• Oversee assigned regional steering committees and provide support to CA WFP Officers.
• Ensure alignment between statewide priorities and the strategies, programs, and decision-making of Regional Committees.
• Establish systems that enhance communication, coordination, accountability, and collaboration among regional and statewide leadership entities.
• Administer annual dues collection from coalition members.
• Lead statewide governance and co-governance meetings while facilitating regional gatherings.
• Cultivate relationships with elected officials, candidates, labor leaders, movement organizations, coalition partners, member leaders, and donors.
• Coordinate engagement opportunities and organize monthly calls with statewide elected officials.
• Oversee issue-based co-governance campaigns and regional co-governance discussions.
• Supervise assigned staff and promote cross-departmental collaboration.
• Participate in organizational planning, staff development, and strategic decision-making processes.
• Represent California WFP in coalitional spaces and strategic political dialogues.
• Lead special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned by the State Director.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience as an advisor, strategist, or senior leader within political, labor, advocacy, or democratic organizations.
• Demonstrated ability to foster alignment among diverse stakeholders and convert strategy into actionable steps.
• Extensive experience in managing coalitions, steering committees, boards, elected leaders, or other governance bodies.
• Strong grasp of relationship building, consensus formation, and organizational decision-making processes.
• Proven experience in staff management, including expectation setting, talent development, and performance evaluation.
• Experience collaborating with elected officials, candidates, labor unions, and community organizations on shared governance, policy, or political objectives.
• Preferred knowledge of California’s political and movement ecosystem.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
• Capability to facilitate complex discussions, navigate competing interests, and convert political and organizational priorities into clear guidance, decisions, and implementation systems.
• Must be legally authorized to work for any employer in the United States.
