• Review and provide hands-on guidance for vendor or contractor technical work.
• Act as the technical owner and escalation point for CRM, ERP, analytics/data platforms, billing, integrations, and related systems.
• Gain an understanding of application architecture, data models, interfaces, credentials, dependencies, and support requirements.
• Define systems of record, integration patterns, data ownership, and application boundaries.
• Assist in platform stabilization, vendor management, release planning, access, documentation, and issue resolution.
• Identify opportunities to streamline the application landscape, minimize manual tasks, retire outdated processes, and enhance reliability.
• Lead business technology initiatives from discovery to implementation, covering requirements, technical design, planning, execution, testing, training, deployment, and post-launch stabilization.
• Break initiatives into workstreams and distribute tasks among internal resources, contractors, implementation partners, and vendors.
• Establish project reporting, decision logs, risk tracking, and escalation processes.
• Collaborate with functional leaders to define success criteria, address trade-offs, and sustain momentum across departments and systems.
• Build and manage a prioritized backlog of internal technology needs.
• Create intake and prioritization processes and maintain a dynamic technology roadmap.
• Communicate priorities, status, resource requirements, and trade-offs to senior leadership.
• Oversee delivery from external technology partners and consultants.
• Support vendor selection, scoping, statements of work, and commercial assessments.
• Coordinate with customer-facing technology teams on shared infrastructure, application knowledge, engineering support, and architecture.
• Offer technical direction and daily leadership across project teams.
• Mentor analysts, administrators, developers, contractors, and business power users.
• Help define future roles, contribute to hiring, and develop a lean business technology capability.
• Advocate for documentation, ownership, technical judgment, and continuous improvement.
• Approximately 8-10 years of progressive experience in technology consulting, business systems, enterprise applications, software engineering, solutions architecture, or a similar broad technology role.
• Proven ability to deliver technical solutions personally, rather than solely managing teams or vendors.
• Strong working knowledge of APIs and systems integration, relational databases and SQL, data movement/transformation, workflow automation, and modern cloud/SaaS application architectures.
• Experience with enterprise business applications such as CRM and ERP platforms; familiarity with Zoho, NetSuite, Snowflake, or similar platforms is beneficial but not mandatory.
• Experience leading cross-functional technology projects from vague business needs to production implementation.
• Comfort in transitioning between business process discussions, technical troubleshooting, project management, and executive communication.
• Experience managing external consultants, implementation partners, or software vendors.
• Exposure to hiring, mentoring, or managing technical resources; extensive experience in department management is not necessary.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to engage directly with systems when necessary instead of defaulting to delegation.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
• Strong ownership mentality with the ability to make progress in an environment with incomplete documentation, evolving priorities, and limited dedicated resources.
• Capability to analyze business processes, identify bottlenecks, and convert needs into practical technology solutions.
• Sound judgment regarding when to build, configure, buy, integrate, or consult a specialist.
• Clear communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior executives.
• Ability to earn trust across functions and introduce structure to a historically decentralized technology environment without hindering business operations.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.
• Willingness and ability to travel as required.
• Remote work arrangement.
• Periodic travel as necessary.
