Director, Non-Franchise Variable Operations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Take charge of used vehicle performance for all designated stores.

• Establish expectations, objectives, and performance targets for used vehicle volume, gross profit, and PVR.

• Foster operational consistency, compliance, process execution, and the adoption of best practices.

• Identify underperforming stores and develop sustainable turnaround strategies.

• Coach and mentor General Managers and Sales Managers.

• Analyze market data, trends, inventory composition, aging, pricing, and transfers.

• Own the market-level acquisition strategy across trade-ins, consumer purchases/WBYC, auctions, and off-lease channels.

• Manage reconditioning throughput, cycle time, cost per unit, workflow, vendors, and quality standards.

• Analyze sales funnel metrics to ensure consistent processes in appraisal, desking, closing, and delivery.

• Integrate phone, eCommerce, BDC, and WBYC interactions with the in-store experience.

• Utilize CRM, DMS, reporting dashboards, pricing tools, and digital retailing tools effectively.

• Promote merchandising standards and implement corrective action plans as needed.

• Conduct in-store visits and provide leadership with insights on performance, opportunities, and risks.

⛳️ Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent is required; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.

• Over 7 years of experience in automotive retail.

• At least 3 years of experience in automotive sales management.

• Proven success in used vehicle operations, inventory strategy, and retail execution.

• Strong analytical abilities.

• Proficient in using CRM, DMS, reporting dashboards, and inventory and pricing tools.

• Excellent coaching, organizational, communication, and presentation skills.

• Experience in used-vehicle-only or high-volume used vehicle retail operations is preferred.

• Preferred experience in multi-store or market-level leadership.

• Moderate to significant travel is required, approximately 50%.
