This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead and implement NKF’s strategy and annual plan for professional membership growth.
• Establish goals for acquiring new members, retention in the first year and overall, member engagement, and revenue from dues.
• Clearly define and communicate the value proposition of Professional Membership across different segments.
• Suggest membership models, tiering systems, and strategies for dues.
• Identify and nurture channels for growth, including institutional and group memberships, as well as partnerships.
• Keep an eye on market trends, offerings from peer societies, and changes in the nephrology workforce.
• Create and implement comprehensive lifecycle programs that encompass recruitment, onboarding, engagement, renewal, reinstatement, and win-back initiatives.
• Develop a pipeline from trainees to professional members, including strategies for conversion upon graduation and programs for early-career professionals.
• Direct member-exclusive content, resources, networking opportunities, webinars, and promotional activities at NKF Spring Clinical Meetings.
• Establish systems for member feedback, enhancing member experience, satisfaction, and loyalty.
• Ensure the integrity of membership data, along with reporting and KPI dashboards.
• Utilize analytics, engagement scoring, and AI-driven tools to pinpoint growth opportunities and identify at-risk members.
• Act as the business owner of membership technology, including AMS/CRM, Member Hub, and marketing automation tools.
• Collaborate with Marketing on the annual membership marketing strategy, budget, campaign testing, measurement, and optimization.
• Work in partnership with departments such as education, advocacy, Kidney Learning Solutions, Spring Clinical Meetings, field offices, and development.
• Oversee the membership budget and forecast dues revenue.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a two-member team focused on membership.
• Represent NKF Professional Membership in external forums with peer societies and within the nephrology community.
• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent mix of education and relevant experience.
• A Master’s degree in a related field is preferred.
• At least 7 years of progressive experience in membership growth, engagement, and retention.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a managerial role.
• Preference for experience in a national professional association, medical or health professional society, or healthcare-related organization.
• Proven success in growing membership while enhancing retention and engagement, with measurable outcomes.
• In-depth understanding of the entire membership lifecycle and lifecycle marketing.
• Strong abilities in strategic thinking and analysis.
• Practical experience with membership data, dashboards, and segmentation strategies.
• Proficient in association management systems (AMS/CRM) and marketing automation platforms.
• Capability to serve as the business owner of membership technology.
• Excellent leadership, team management, interpersonal, written and verbal communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to influence across various functions and engage effectively with senior clinical volunteer leaders.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
• A strong passion for the National Kidney Foundation’s mission and support for healthcare professionals.
• Willingness to travel moderately for business, including overnight trips and weekends.
• Unquestionable integrity and trustworthiness; professionalism, discretion, and effectiveness under pressure.
• Competence in using standard office equipment, including telephones, personal computers, fax machines, and photocopiers.
