Director, IT EPMO

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Define and enhance the EPMO operating model in alignment with enterprise and IT objectives and strategies.

• Establish governance frameworks for delivery that support Agile methodologies, as well as hybrid (CFPA and vendor-led) execution.

• Lead the intake process for IT demands, triage project requests, and prioritize portfolios across various business units.

• Manage capacity planning for the portfolio, coordinating efforts between internal teams and vendor partners.

• Supervise the execution of intricate IT programs, including core system upgrades, vendor implementations, and regulatory initiatives.

• Act as the main liaison among C-level executives, technical teams, and business units.

• Facilitate portfolio reviews and engage in executive briefings as required.

• Oversee the delivery responsibilities of system integrators, vendor partners, SaaS providers, and third-party vendors.

• Assist in contract oversight and vendor risk management in collaboration with senior leadership and Legal teams.

• Lead, motivate, and develop talent including IT project coordinators, IT project managers, and program managers.

• Advocate for continuous improvement, delivery maturity, and professional development.

• Manage IT portfolio management tools, dashboards, and reporting systems.

• Provide a consolidated source of truth for IT delivery health, reporting, and portfolio insights.

• Enhance forecasting accuracy and delivery confidence throughout the CFPA.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, Business, or a related field is preferred.

• Over 10 years of experience in IT portfolio management and project management within an enterprise context is highly desirable.

• More than 5 years of experience leading an IT PMO or EPMO in a regulated environment.

• Direct experience within the insurance or financial services sectors is strongly preferred.

• Comprehensive understanding of SaaS-based insurance core systems (policy, claims, billing) and their supporting platforms.

• In-depth knowledge of insurance operations with an emphasis on broker/agent interactions.

• Experience with vendor-led implementations and system integrations.

• PMP, PgMP, PfMP, SAFe, or equivalent demonstrated delivery experience is preferred.

• Familiarity with ITIL, COBIT, or related governance frameworks is a plus.

• AINS, CPCU, or relevant insurance certifications are advantageous.

• Strategic, pragmatic, and focused on delivery.
