Director, Health Informatics

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Oversee Aptive’s health informatics practice collaborating with both government and commercial sectors.

• Utilize data science, decision intelligence, and analytics to enhance healthcare operations and elevate patient outcomes.

• Mentor and lead a senior data team while providing guidance.

• Ensure compliance with interoperability standards, security measures, and overall requirements.

• Gather, articulate, and manage client requirements effectively.

• Engage in establishing and overseeing new studies.

• Create algorithms and tools for data gathering and raw data analysis.

• Evaluate data quality, profile and clean data, and conduct exploratory data analysis.

• Design and implement operations research techniques, diagnostic and predictive models, as well as machine learning algorithms.

• Train and assess models using statistical expertise and extensive datasets.

• Deploy models in operational environments while considering provider workflows.

• Analyze and communicate results to healthcare providers and business stakeholders.

• Develop data visualization strategies to present findings effectively.

• Provide guidance to leadership and team members on technical tools, methodologies, and resources for both classified and unclassified information.

• Spearhead the application of machine learning, predictive analytics, prescriptive analytics, optimization, and innovative analytical techniques.

• Identify significant challenges and future requirements, analyze root causes, formulate solutions, and pinpoint process improvements.

• Assess decision systems, models, and tools; lead pilot initiatives and functional or technical change projects.

• Cultivate relationships with VA clients and strategic partners.

⛳️ Requirements

• 15+ years of professional experience and expertise in Health Informatics, Health IT, and/or Clinical Informatics.

• Advanced proficiency in Python, R, SQL, Java, Julia, Scala, and applications such as SPSS and SAS.

• 5+ years of experience in advanced data analysis (AI/ML).

• Extensive experience with data and AI/ML platforms including Azure ML, AWS AI/ML, DataBricks, Palantir, SnowFlakes, etc.

• Expertise in software/big data tools including Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka.

• Proficient in visualization tools such as PowerApps, PowerBI, Looker, Metabase, Tableau, seaborn, etc.

• Exceptional problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills (both verbal and written), with fluency in MS Office.

• A minimum of a PhD, Master’s, or Bachelor’s degree in data science, statistics, or computer/information science or a related field.

• Preferred experience in healthcare, research, and consulting.

• Desired expertise in Electronic Health Record Management (EHRM) system integration and support.

• Direct experience supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs and/or Veterans Health Administration is a plus.
