Director, Government Relations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Build and maintain influential relationships with government officials, including leaders from Administration and executive agencies, U.S. Senators, Members of the House of Representatives, as well as state and local policymakers.

• Provide timely, comprehensive analyses of current and proposed legislation impacting retail, sports, sports betting, and e-commerce to keep Fanatics leadership well-informed.

• Track legislative and regulatory changes, evaluate their business implications, and design advocacy strategies accordingly.

• Create executive summaries, position papers, and advocacy briefs that clearly articulate Fanatics’ policy stances.

• Oversee external consultants, engage with internal stakeholders, and manage special projects.

• Communicate Fanatics’ policy positions to government officials, trade associations, coalitions, and industry stakeholders.

• Enhance collaborations with trade associations, advocacy groups, and community organizations.

• Innovate and implement creative advocacy strategies.

• Coordinate site visits, retail events, and media interactions for elected officials.

• Report directly to the SVP, Head of the Fanatics Global Government Relations team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Comprehensive understanding of public policy with the capability to simplify complex regulatory issues into actionable insights.

• Significant experience and knowledge of the legislative and regulatory process.

• Over 10 years of experience in Congressional, federal government, or government affairs within Washington, including substantial congressional experience and bipartisan collaboration.

• Political campaign and electoral experience is highly regarded.

• Outstanding writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

• Proven track record of navigating complex policy challenges, influencing stakeholders, and achieving favorable results.

• Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage projects from strategic planning through to execution.

• Capacity to work autonomously while promoting cross-functional collaboration.

• Enthusiasm for shaping and enhancing the corporate narrative through strategic communications.
