
Director, Finance – Clinical Trials

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Supervise financial accounting and operations for clinical trials, which includes invoicing and cash collections, cash management, vendor invoicing, expense allocations, and account reconciliations.
• Oversee the Senior Accountant, including the review and approval of accounting activities.
• Collaborate with the internal clinical operations team to create trial protocol budgets, forecasts, billing schedules, and reporting.
• Offer financial oversight for external clinical research organizations and other vendors, encompassing budget development, monthly invoice reviews and reconciliations, as well as cash flow management.
• Create and maintain monthly and quarterly reports on trial activities for internal clinical operations and executive leadership.
• Uphold internal controls and ensure adherence to Blood Cancer United policies and procedures.
• Assist in the development of the annual Blood Cancer United budget and quarterly forecasts related to clinical trials.
• Generate P&L statements and cash projections for each clinical trial and protocol arm.
• Collaborate with treasury and FP&A teams to accurately represent trial activities in organizational projections and forecasts.
• Address audit and legal inquiries concerning financial activities related to clinical trials.
• Support additional finance, reporting, and operational projects as assigned.
• CPA and a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance are mandatory.
• A minimum of 8 years of financial accounting experience is required.
• At least 3 years of management experience is essential.
• Experience in fiscal operations, clinical research contract administration, subcontract administration, or a similar combination of education and experience is required.
• Proven knowledge of project budgeting and fiscal management is necessary.
• Extensive knowledge of clinical research contracts and subcontracts is preferred.
• Familiarity with current GAAP accounting and financial statement disclosure requirements is essential.
• Understanding of IRS reporting obligations is required.
• Capability to effectively manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
• Strong financial, analytical, modeling, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent organizational skills and keen attention to detail.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong technical expertise in accounting principles and practices.
• Experience with NetSuite, Adaptive, or similar financial systems is preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required.
