Director, Environmental Planning

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Spearhead business development initiatives and foster growth in environmental services, particularly in Florida.

• Propel expansion in the water and energy sectors while managing relationships with clients and teaming partners.

• Deliver project oversight, strategic direction, and technical guidance for intricate projects spanning various geographies and regulatory frameworks.

• Direct project teams and personnel, including subconsultants.

• Formulate strategies, collaborate with agencies, and create reports and deliverables.

• Supervise client interactions, agency coordination, budget management, invoicing, scheduling, personnel allocation, technical methodologies, and subcontractor participation.

• Lead or provide guidance to staff on coordination with regulatory and natural resource agencies under NEPA and CWA.

• Draft and evaluate technical reports and public environmental documentation.

• Conduct QA/QC reviews of project materials and outputs to ensure technical adequacy, regulatory compliance, and alignment with client expectations.

• Mentor and train staff in areas of technical knowledge, project and client management, writing, business development, and consulting skills.

• Contribute to business development and expansion as a technical authority.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental policy, biology, or a related field.

• At least 15 years of experience in environmental, energy, and/or natural resource projects.

• Proven experience in leading business development efforts, including the formulation of technical and cost proposals.

• Well-established industry network with both private and public sector clients as well as regulatory agencies, demonstrating an ability to secure project opportunities.

• Strong acumen in business development and a solid understanding of the market landscape.

• Capacity to identify, position for, and secure new project opportunities.

• Master’s degree in environmental science, environmental policy, biology, or a related field (preferred).

• Proven capability to drive business development and growth within environmental services.

• Experience in growth and project delivery in the State of Florida.

• Comprehensive knowledge and demonstrated experience with NEPA, CWA, and ESA.

• Experience in agency consultation and coordination.

• Scientifically rigorous assessment of project impacts.

• Ability to collaborate across divisions and establish and nurture client and teaming partner relationships.

• Willingness to engage in occasional short-term travel.
