Director, Enterprise Architecture

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.

📋 Description

• Formulate and execute enterprise technology and architecture strategies that foster business growth, innovation, and the digital transformation of healthcare.

• Align technology roadmaps with corporate strategy and product priorities.

• Establish and uphold architecture standards, principles, and reference architectures.

• Support the Architecture Review Board and ensure that major initiatives adhere to enterprise architecture guidelines.

• Provide strategic direction regarding solution architecture and enterprise platform decisions.

• Assess emerging technologies, frameworks, and vendors while balancing innovation, risk, cost, and sustainability.

• Spearhead enterprise integration and modernization efforts, including APIs, data interoperability, clinical data exchange, and cloud transformation.

• Minimize technical debt and upgrade legacy platforms.

• Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to promote innovation and enhance business value.

• Represent the organization’s technological vision with external partners and industry peers.

• Collaborate with business and IT leaders to align architecture with strategic objectives.

• Convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Integrate security, compliance, and risk management into architectural decisions.

• Guide cost-effective architectural decisions and contribute to IT investment and budget planning.

• Supervise and mentor solution architects on scalable, secure, and resilient designs.

• Engage early in the delivery process to address complex design challenges and ensure alignment with standards.

• Lead, mentor, and nurture the architecture team.

• Cultivate leadership capacity and succession planning within the architecture function.

• Define and monitor architecture KPIs, communicating business value, risk reduction, cost efficiency, and return on investment.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.

• Over 15 years of progressive IT experience.

• A minimum of 5 years in technology leadership positions at the Director level or higher.

• Proven track record in leading technology strategy and enterprise architecture within complex healthcare settings.

• Experience working with payer and provider organizations.

• Familiarity with healthcare standards such as X12, FHIR, and HL7.

• Practical experience with cloud platforms, microservices, APIs, event-driven systems, data analytics, AI/ML, observability/service management, and Dev/Sec/Data/AI/Ops practices.

• Experience with enterprise platforms like Facets, Salesforce, and Snowflake.

• Proficiency in AWS, Azure, and GCP.

• Demonstrated experience in developing multi-year technology roadmaps.

• Experience evaluating build, buy, or reuse decisions.

• Strong leadership, communication, mentoring, and executive influence skills.

• Extensive experience in overseeing end-to-end solution delivery and managing architectural risks.

• Capability to build and lead a high-performing architecture team.

• A Master’s degree is preferred but not mandatory.

• Experience in technology consulting or advisory services is highly regarded.

• Familiarity with M&A technology integration is advantageous.

• Knowledge of business architecture, Technology Business Management (TBM), or enterprise operating model design is a plus.
