This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more country.
• Spearhead the vision and implementation of foundational systems that support the engineering organization.
• Take ownership of a multi-year strategy to transition from the legacy Python/Jinja monolith to a modular FastAPI architecture, utilizing Domain-Driven Design and zero-downtime database migrations.
• Propel the rollout and integration of AI-assisted coding tools and AI-augmented workflows throughout the engineering teams.
• Assess and enhance developer productivity.
• Guide the development of SDKs, data pipelines, and internal tools that facilitate LLM integration and AI-driven features.
• Foster a shift-left Application Security culture by implementing secure coding practices, automated vulnerability scanning, and threat modeling.
• Supervise Identity, AuthN/AuthZ, OAuth2, RBAC, Audit Logs, and high-throughput API and MCP Gateways.
• Negotiate refactoring timelines with Product leaders and collaborate effectively with Engineering and DevOps teams.
• Recruit, mentor, and develop engineering managers and staff/principal engineers.
• Create secure, high-velocity paved paths while minimizing technical debt and security vulnerabilities.
• Over 15 years of experience in software engineering.
• A minimum of 5 years in engineering leadership roles, including direct management of managers and leading multiple teams.
• Demonstrated experience in architecting systems that support AI functionalities, such as LLMs, RAG, and tool calling.
• Proven history of driving the adoption of AI-assisted development tools and AI SDLC practices across engineering teams.
• A successful track record in guiding large-scale migrations from monolithic to modular systems and decoupling shared database schemas in high-traffic, essential environments.
• In-depth knowledge of Application Security principles.
• Familiarity with Identity/Access Management, including OAuth 2.0 and OIDC.
• Understanding of modern API traffic management.
• Strong technical proficiency in Python and the FastAPI ecosystems.
• Ability to guide Staff-level engineers through architectural decisions related to modern APIs and legacy applications.
• Outstanding executive communication skills.
