Director, Destination Development

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alaska.

📋 Description

• Identify, implement, and manage strategic development projects and opportunities in collaboration with Destination Development and leadership at Royal Caribbean Group.

• Obtain both external and internal approvals for development initiatives.

• Oversee and maintain relationships with current joint-venture partners.

• Organize and facilitate Board of Directors meetings.

• Ensure that entities uphold Royal Caribbean Group's guest experience standards.

• Formulate commercial and other business strategies to address strategic port development requirements.

• Manage interactions with internal and external stakeholders, including port authorities, trade associations, and industry brands.

• Collect intelligence and pinpoint mutually beneficial opportunities for partners and governments.

• Oversee projects from pre-feasibility assessments through to definitive designs, including RFPs.

• Direct local consultants and expert teams, such as engineers and architects.

• Assess project feasibility, viability, and financial sustainability.

• Analyze administrative challenges and risks related to obtaining necessary authorizations.

• Coordinate with Legal, Deployment, Finance, Accounting, Corporate Capital, Treasury, Government Relations, Public Affairs, Communications, Product Development, Marine Operations, and Port Operations.

• Relay strategy and deal particulars to stakeholders for the preparation, review, and execution of legal documents.

• Evaluate legal contracts and distill key information for negotiations and strategic conversations.

• Manage assets and implementation within existing joint ventures.

• Participate in designated joint-venture Boards of Directors.

• Guide local General Managers, Finance teams, and consultants on management policies and reporting.

• Cultivate relationships with ports, destinations, government officials, and travel industry partners.

• Enhance market share, pier availability, terminal capacity, and new business opportunities.

• Travel and engage with stakeholders within destinations; travel is expected to be up to 50% monthly.

⛳️ Requirements

• BA/BS degree minimum.

• At least 10 years of experience with an international cruise line or port development organization.

• Proficiency in Spanish preferred; knowledge of other languages is advantageous.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication, consensus-building, and presentation abilities.

• Strong organizational skills and capability to work independently in a dynamic environment with multiple projects and priorities.

• Ability to lead a team and influence individuals across various management levels.

• Task-oriented and dependable, with the ability to provide status updates and expected timelines.

• Familiarity with diverse countries and cultures.

• Capability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports, business periodicals, contracts, legal documents, and technical reports.

• Established network of contacts and business relationships.

• Strong entrepreneurial mindset.

• Highly motivated and self-driven.

• Willingness and ability to travel nationally and internationally up to 50% of the time.

• Must currently reside in Alaska.
