Director, Data Analytics

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the dashboard and reporting functions from start to finish, overseeing the Power BI ecosystem, analysts, and vendor partners.

• Establish reporting standards, intake processes, and dependable metric definitions.

• Collaborate with the Data Architecture team to co-manage semantic data layers.

• Develop analyses that highlight problem areas and facilitate large-scale fixes.

• Engage directly with the data warehouse and back-end systems by writing queries and constructing models.

• Implement controls and measures to ensure that solutions remain effective over time.

• Analyze and redesign processes that generate low-quality data.

• Strive for uniformity in processes and tools for each role.

• Trace issues from source systems to downstream systems to pinpoint where failures occur.

• Collaborate with operational teams to identify, prioritize, and analyze issues, ascertain root causes, and implement actionable items.

• Coordinate across teams while ensuring execution accountability rests with function owners.

• Offer analytics support for the company’s quarterly key initiatives.

• Report directly to the CTO.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience working with data in complex, multi-system environments, with a focus on owning analyses rather than merely generating reports.

• Strong proficiency in a modern data stack, including Azure SQL, Databricks, and Power BI.

• Systems-oriented mindset when approaching business challenges.

• Solid understanding of financial processes, operational KPIs, measure definition and implementation, and the ability to derive meaningful source data.

• Proven experience in process redesign.

• Capability to effectively utilize AI-enabled tools such as Claude and Copilot.

• Established credibility with senior stakeholders and the judgment to constructively challenge ineffective processes.

• Comfort in a company that is still evolving.

• Preferred: experience in healthcare, clinical research, or a similar regulated setting.

• Preferred: familiarity with revenue cycle, order-to-cash, or billing operations.

• Preferred: experience in establishing a BI or analytics function.

• Preferred: proficiency in Python or similar programming languages for data tasks beyond SQL.

• Preferred: experience managing a small team or vendor resources while remaining actively involved.

• Availability to work Monday through Friday, from 8 AM to 5 PM.

• Approximately 80% of the time spent sitting.

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic healthcare environment with strict deadlines and a focus on continuous learning.
